Dear Ramon,
Pasay-loa gyud ko for not answering your letter. Sa Africa internet is on and off ; worst I lost your contact address . Then you forwarded Glenna's e-mail , thus I am in touch with you again.
I am deeply honored to be recommended as an outstanding alumna of MHAM despite the fact that I don't see my contribution to society any bigger than yours. Yes, we faced a lot of challenges here in Africa which you can never imagine. Practice of medicine is difficult when you do not have a steady supply of esential drugs and equipments; no subspecialist available for referral , the risk of HIV , malaria, risk also of losing your life through armed robbery and more. But we have survived ! We have been in this special part of the world for over 14 years .
July 2009 is not our annual leave year. I cannot change my leave cycle for the moment. This I have voiced out to you when I was in the Phils last January. Please accept my sincere apologies. I do miss Cebu so much, the island where I was born and educated. I do miss all of you guys . Well, God willling in the near future I will be able to attend alumni gatherings and see you and your family.
Regards to all my classmates, teachers, and schoolmates at MHAM. Thanks to Inday Demitillo for organizing the mini class reunion we had at Saisaki, SM Megamall. We enjoyed the food. There are no such thing as Saisaki or even McDonald's here in Malawi.
We do have a fastfood called Hungry Lion and a pizza place called Jungle Pepper and Alibaba ( western food like burgers and pizza are reallyexpensive here).
Africanized Classmate,
Ema Fe
